Maleny Country Cottages is a country retreat on a 60 acre forested property offering seclusion and peaceful surroundings where you can stroll through 10 acres and experience the Australian bush and observe a large variety of plants and wildlife. Our bush walking tracks will lead you down to an undisturbed rainforest that was once used by cedar loggers a century ago. These tracks were used by bullock team to haul logs. We have easy walking tracks for the more adventurous at heart, there are tracks where a degree of fitness is required to reach such areas as small waterfalls, streams and rock pools which are mainly running through the wet season.
Thanks to Maleny’s climate, the property remains green throughout most years – relaxing and revitalising views are everywhere.
Whether your goal involves active and/or passive pursuits this is a delightful space for all sorts of reflections – a place to deeply enjoy your life.
Maleny is renowned for her mists and clouds – even when the weather is what some call “inclement”, the environment is enjoyable and adds to the pleasure of your stay.
A few hundred metres (at most) the native forest is beckoning – the forest changes from sclerophyll to wet (rain) forest in a short walk along the ample walking tracks.
The birdlife is diverse and abundant.
Parrots, Rosellas and Lorikeets add a bright splash of colour throughout the year and sightings of koalas are a real delight.
At all times you will likely find the local fauna – including wallabies, possums and parrots – taking a keen interest in your movements.
Several wide (two abreast) walking tracks meander through the forest bringing you deep into the natural environment with its rich flora and fauna.
The creek flows through the forest and has created many waterfalls, swimming holes and rock pools along its path.
A journey along the creek will bring you to many pools and swimming holes where life abounds.
Note: Availability of these swimming holes & waterfalls are seasonal.
